Ella Rothschild

Ella was born and grew up in Ein Vered, Israel.  She is a graduate of the Hertzog High School and Kfar-Saba Conservatorium for Dance.  From 2002-2006 she was a member of the Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak Dance Company, performing their repertoire. From 2006-2008 she joined Batsheva Ensemble and in 2008-2010 she danced in Batsheva Dance Company, performing works by Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, and other choreographers. During her four years in the company Ella choreographed six pieces that were performed in the platform of Batsheva Dancers Create. As a freelancer between the years 2010-2013, Ella has worked with diverse choreographers, performing Idan Cohen’s Swan Lake, Gili Navot’s Check-in, and Shlomit Fundaminsky’s fly fly lie, for which she received the Dudu Dotan Award for the best performance by a dancer in 2013.

Today Ella is performing in the piece Goldfish by Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak.  She also collaborates with Pinto and Pollak as an assistant choreographer and choreography developer on diverse projects including the musical The Cat That Lived a Million Times, a production staged in Tokyo, Japan; the opera The Cunning Little Vixen in Bergen, Norway; and the creation Dust.

Between 2010-2014 Ella created and produced multidisciplinary works that integrate dance, visual art, and music.  Her repertory includes Tango, Hardwear, Dood show, Airplay, Bird wears a gray coat, Homunculus.  One of her newest works is Demons, a multidisciplinary show for the music/dance project “The Kokoro” and a collaboration with the composer and singer Lee Triffon.  Judah, Jesus with soy is a collaboration with the Japanese actor and dancer Mirai Moriyama and premiered in Japan Dance Week in Tel Aviv. Acord, a multidisciplinary solo creation, was presented by the Hanut31 Gallery and Batsheva Hosts.
